The elastic coupling or flexible coupling's main function is to transmit torque and rotation, making the connection between the drive (motor side) and the driven machine (driven side) by means of flexible element, which can be elastomeric, metal disc blades or alloy steel grids.
Flexible couplings also accommodate parallel, angular, torsional and axial misalignments, reducing vibration levels. Maintenance of these components is considered simple and in most cases lubrication is not required.
The composition, in general, includes the hubs that will be applied to each of the shaft ends + the flexible elements, which configure the wear parts that must be replaced periodically to increase the useful life cycle.
